ROUTE DESCRIPTION

The starting point for cycling tours is in the city centre, opposite the Tržič bus station. Parking is possible in public parking areas (parking lots at the Municipality of Tržič, on Predilniška Road at the entrance to the city-BPT, at the Tržič Olympians Hall, along the street Za Mošenikom, among others).

In Tržič, head south and turn right after 200 m towards the health centre, then after 250 m (in front of the health centre) turn left up the hill, onto what is called Kovtrn'c. The road runs under the highway to Ljubelj. When it ends, turn right through a small tunnel and continue through Bistrica pri Tržiču. At the intersection with the main road, where there is a wayside shrine, turn uphill to the right, towards Begunje. You will ascend to Brezje pri Tržiču. Behind the Church of St. Agnes, where the road starts to descend, turn right onto the road that leads to Dobrča and Bistriška mountain pasture. This is followed by a very steep paved section, and at the end of the asphalt you can relax with a beautiful view of Blaška Skala, which is registered as an archaeological site. Follow the forest road to Bistriška mountain pasture, where you can stop at the dairy.

The descent towards Ravne begins on the lower (southern) part of the pasture, on a forest road that leads to the east. On a small saddle at the end of the pasture, turn left steeply up the hill onto the singletrack trail and then follow the markings all the way to Tržič. The descent in the upper part follows singletrack trails, then you will come to a forest road, but turn immediately right onto another singletrack trail. In the lower part, the descent is more difficult due to the narrowness and poor surface of the trail. The section with stairs that takes us to another forest road is done on foot. At the farm you will join the road that descends to Ravne, where you turn sharply left downhill and then right at the crossroads onto the main road. You can continue back to the starting point by the trail along Mošenik Creek: behind the bridge, where the road starts to climb, turn right and follow the trail along the river.

good to know

You can avoid a more difficult section: when the downhill route joins a forest road for a short time (you'll see a holiday cottage on the left), follow it down towards Podljubelj and then go by road through Ravne to Tržič.

The descent follows a hiking trail. Be considerate of hikers: pull over, greet them, and give them the right of way.

In the summer months Bistrica pasture is grazed by livestock. Be sure to close gates behind you and take care not to disturb the animals as you cross the pasture.
