A stroll around Tržič with Neža Vovk

Learn about the rich craftsmanship traditions of Tržič, which have also been carefully preserved by its younger generations of residents. Neža Vovk takes you on a two-hour guided tour along the streets of this medieval town below the Karawanks, where you will hear many an interesting story about how life used to be.

About the tour

We meet at the dragon from the rooster's egg (opposite the Tržič bus station).

We'll start with an informative stroll around the old town centre of Tržič. In one of the side streets  we'll visit a leather workshop that offers unique, handmade leather bags, belts, wallets, slippers and other beautiful things. Then we'll walk past the old industrial area, which once made Tržič an important economic centre.

In front of the Sokolnica building, a recreation hall more than one hundred years old, we'll learn some interesting things about sport, mining, and Tržič's connection with France.

We'll conclude the tour in style with a stop at the premises of the former Peko footwear factory and visit the shoe company Proalp, which draws on the rich shoemaking tradition of Tržič. We'll look at their manufacturing of shoes and experience a firsthand presentation.
