Across St. Anne avalanche area to a sunny summitSteep scree fields descend from Begunjščica on the northern and northwestern slopes, and these offer the possibility of excellent ski touring in favourable conditions. There is no shortage of enthusiastic touring skiers on the shaded slopes above Zelenica, but due patience and caution are required in unfavourable snow conditions, mainly due to the often high risk of avalanches.

Ski to where you can get delicious dumplingsIn the westernmost part of Košuta lies the vast mountain pasture of Kofce, which in the snow-free part of the year is a very popular destination, especially for carefree hikers, young and old, who enjoy the homemade cooking. When the mountain spruce forests, and higher up, the grassy slopes and mountain pastures are covered with snow, visitors enjoy ski touring and snowshoeing in this area of wide open views and winter fun.

Steep downhill skiing from a two-thousander in the western part of KošutaVeliki Vrh (2088 m) is the westernmost two-thousander along Slovenia's longest mountain ridge, Košuta. It is considered to be the backyard mountain for Kofce, since from here there is a fairly undemanding hiking trail to the summit during the snow-free months. In winter, however, the level of difficulty of the approach increases significantly.

Challenging winter ascent and descent for the highly skilledThe experienced touring skier, in favourable and sufficiently safe snow conditions, may want to ascend to the central ridge of Košuta, to the 2,000-metre Kladivo. The strenuous ascent and adrenaline-filled descent from this challenging peak is not for everyone, but the most experienced will enjoy it immensely.
