Tržič - Jelendol - Medvodje - Vetrh pasture - Konjiščica pasture - Pavšel - Lom pod Storžičem - Tržič

ROUTE DESCRIPTION

The starting point for cycling tours is in the city centre, opposite the Tržič bus station. Parking is possible in public parking areas (parking lots at the Municipality of Tržič, on Predilniška Road at the entrance to the city-BPT, at the Tržič Olympians Hall, along the street Za Mošenikom, among others).

Go through Tržič along the main road to the northeast (towards Lom and the Dovžan Gorge). At Slap continue straight through the Dovžan Gorge, where the road will start to climb towards Dolina. From Dolina to Jelendol, the route stays pleasantly level and cool, following the course of the Tržič Bistrica River. Below the Born Mansion in Jelendol, keep to the right, following the gravel road that runs along the valley towards Medvodje.

Shorter variant K15a: 500 m before Medvodje there is a turnoff to the right across a bridge that leads directly to Vetrh mountain pasture.

In Medvodje continue straight on and after 1.1 km turn right towards Bukov Hrib (Beech Hill). You will circumvent the hill along a beautiful scenic road; below it turn right and on returning to the main road keep to the right again and continue towards Vetrh mountain pasture. Continue straight past the turnoff for Javornik and at the next major crossroads turn left towards Konjščica. The road will start to climb.

Variant K15b: if you continue straight towards the mountain farm of Pr'Tič and Lom pod Storžičem, you can save a few metres of elevation gain.

At the crossroads, where the road flattens out, turn left towards Konjščica mountain pasture. There are still approx. 2 km and 150 meters of ascent, which will be rewarded with beautiful views of Košuta.

Return along the same road to the crossroads and turn left. First, a more or less flat road awaits you, which then begins to descend towards Grahovše. When you reach the crossroads, go right and past the Pavšel farm. Watch out for the barrier gate. The descent into the valley continues along an unpaved road towards Grahovše. When you reach the valley, take the road to the right, which leads towards Tržič.

good to know

For a less difficult variant you can leave out the last ascent to the pasture of Konjščica.

In the summer months livestock are grazed on Konščica, so be sure to close gates behind you and try not to disturb the animals by going too fast.
