K25 - Around Kriška Gora
A challenging and rugged circular route
Hikers are attracted to the southern slopes of Križna Gora for the views, while paragliders like to catch the excellent thermals there. On a mountain bike and with a decent amount of technical skills you can cycle around it rather than going to the top.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION
The starting point for cycling tours is in the city centre, opposite the Tržič bus station. Parking is possible in public parking areas (parking lots at the Municipality of Tržič, on Predilniška Road at the entrance to the city-BPT, at the Tržič Olympians Hall, along the street Za Mošenikom, among others).
Go through Tržič along the main road to the northeast (towards Lom and the Dovžan Gorge). Turn right at Slap to the first uphill section to the village of Lom pod Storžičem.
Continue past the Church of St. Catherine along the main road towards Grahovše. The Upper Lom Valley is wider and flatter, with views of Bela Peč, Javornik, and Storžič. You can see the remains of moraine material deposited here by a glacier in the upper part of the sand quarry before the village of Slaparska Vas. At Slaparska Vas you will cross a forest road. Continue along along the valley and eventually the route will to climb a bit more towards Storžič Mountain Hostel.
Here you can take a break, then continue further along the road. After riding a bit more than a kilometer, turn left onto the road that ascends towards Mala and Velika Poljana. The road later turns into a steep logging trail. Past Mala Poljana is the last steep uphill section that will take you to Velika Poljana, which is the highest point of the tour.
The descent to Zalog takes place partly by logging trail and partly by singletrack, and in some places it is steep and technically very challenging. Lower down you will cross the Sevnica stream below and descend along the road to Zalog, and from there on towards Goriče. Return to Tržič along the main road through Golnik, Senično and Križe.
good to know
In summer the pastures are grazed by livestock, so be sure to close gates behind you and and try not to disturb the animals by going too fast. Be considerate of hikers: stop, greet them, and yield to them.
